OMIZ 20MG – 14 Capsules for Stomach Acid

Omez 20 mg (Omeprazole) is a medication belonging to the proton pump inhibitors (PPIs) class. It works by reducing stomach acid production and is used to treat acidity and related digestive problems.

Benefits & Uses of omez 20mg

• Helps treat gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) and erosive esophagitis.

• Treats active gastric ulcers and duodenal ulcers.

• Used for Zollinger–Ellison syndrome, which causes excessive stomach acid secretion.

• Part of the treatment protocol for Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) infection when taken with antibiotics.

• Helps prevent ulcers caused by the use of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs).

• Relieves frequent heartburn (two or more times per week) when used without prescription for up to 14 consecutive days.

Dosage & Administration

• Usual dose: One 20 mg capsule once daily before meals on an empty stomach (preferably 1 hour before breakfast).

• For H. pylori treatment: 20 mg every 12 hours with antibiotics for 10–14 days.

• For GERD or ulcers: Usually for 4–8 weeks, extendable as per doctor’s advice.

• Swallow the capsule whole with sufficient water. If swallowing is difficult, the capsule may be opened and its contents sprinkled on a spoonful of applesauce and swallowed immediately without chewing.

• Do not use without prescription for more than 14 days, and do not repeat the course without at least a 4-month gap.

• Seek immediate medical advice if warning symptoms occur, such as chest pain, unexplained weight loss, vomiting blood, black stools, difficulty swallowing, or severe abdominal pain.

• Avoid prolonged use without medical supervision to reduce the risk of vitamin/mineral deficiency or bone fractures.

• May affect the results of certain medical tests; inform your doctor you are using it.

Drug Interactions

May interact with:

• Digoxin.

• Clopidogrel.

• Methotrexate.

• St. John’s wort.

• Certain diuretics (water pills).

• Antibiotics (amoxicillin, clarithromycin, rifampin).

• HIV medications containing rilpivirine.
