Azopt Eye Drops

Azopt eye drops are used to treat elevated intraocular pressure by reducing the production of aqueous humor within the eye, which, when overproduced, contribute to increased eye pressure. Consequently, these drops help in the treatment of glaucoma.

Azopt eye drops composition

Azopt contains 10 mg/mL of brinzolamide, a carbonic anhydrase inhibitor. This helps decrease the production of aqueous humor in the eye, thereby lowering elevated intraocular pressure.

Azopt eye drops uses

Azopt eye drops are used for:

• Treating glaucoma (open-angle glaucoma).

• Reducing elevated intraocular pressure.

Azopt eye drops dosage

• The usual dosage is one drop in the affected eye twice daily.

• Maintain a minimum interval of five minutes between Azopt and any other eye drop being used.

• Avoid letting the dropper tip touch the eye surface during use.

• It is recommended to close the eye and place a fingertip on the corner of the eye near the nose for two minutes after application to prevent systemic absorption and enhance the drug's effect on the eye.

• Remove contact lenses before using Azopt and wait 15 minutes before wearing them.

Onset of Action

The onset of action for glaucoma eye drops may vary depending on the active ingredient. For Azopt, intraocular pressure reduction is expected to begin within two hours after application.

Azopt eye drops may cause some side effects, such as:

• Blurred vision.

• Eye pain.

• Altered taste sensation.

Contraindications for Azopt Eye Drops

Azopt should not be used in the following cases:

• Hypersensitivity to its components.

• Hypersensitivity to sulfonamides.

• Severe kidney failure.

• Hyperchloremic acidosis.

Use During Pregnancy and Breastfeeding

Azopt eye drops should not be used during pregnancy or breastfeeding unless deemed necessary and under medical supervision.

Drug Interactions

5-What happens if the product arrives damaged or incorrect?
