Menopur is used to treat infertility in two cases:

How to Use Menopur Injections

• Menopur is administered either intramuscularly or subcutaneously.

• The medication is supplied as a powder in small vials and must be mixed with a saline solution just before use.

• Dosage varies depending on the reason for use and the patient’s response to treatment.

• Recommended initial dose: 225 IU per day, injected subcutaneously.

• Dose adjustments can be made after 5 days, with a maximum increase of 150 IU per adjustment.

• Maximum daily dose: 450 IU.

Contraindications (When Not to Use Menopur)

• In Women:

Menopur should not be used if:

• You are allergic to menotrophin or any of the ingredients.

• You have tumors in the pituitary gland or hypothalamus.

• You have cancer of the uterus, ovaries, or breast.

• You have ovarian cysts or enlarged ovaries not related to PCOS.

• You experience unexplained vaginal bleeding.

• You have reached early menopause or have had your uterus removed.

• You have physical conditions that prevent pregnancy.

• You are pregnant or breastfeeding.

• In Men:

Menopur should not be used if:

• The patient has testicular or prostate cancer.

Side Effects

• Injection site inflammation.

• Ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome (OHSS).
