Marvelon 21 Tablets are combined oral contraceptive pills used effectively for pregnancy prevention. Each tablet contains 0.15 mg of desogestrel (a synthetic progestogen) and 0.03 mg of ethinylestradiol (a synthetic estrogen). The pills are taken once daily for 21 days, followed by a 7-day break during which no pills are taken.

• Marvelon contains two types of female sex hormones, estrogen and progestogen, and is used for contraception by:

• Preventing ovulation (the release of an egg from the ovary).

• Thickening cervical mucus, making it harder for sperm to reach the egg.

• Potentially reducing premenstrual symptoms.

• Marvelon does not protect against sexually transmitted infections (STIs), so additional protection, such as condoms, is recommended when needed.

How to use Marvelon

• Follow the arrow directions on the strip, taking one tablet daily at the same time for 21 consecutive days, followed by a 7-day break with no pills.

• During the break, a withdrawal bleed similar to a period occurs.

• After the break, start a new pack regardless of whether bleeding has stopped or not.

• Swallow each tablet whole, with water if needed (do not chew the tablet).
